Heavy Rigid (HR)
HR Truck License allows operation of a truck or bus (including a mobile crane or a prime mover) of more than 8 tones GVM with 3 or more axles, with or an articulated bus (that can bend in the middle).
Road Ranger
$1250 (5hrs training) + Booking fee
Additional training $150/hr
Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck Licence
A Heavy Rigid licence covers a vehicle with 3 or more axles. To be eligible for this licence, you must have a car licence or higher drivers licence class for at least 24 months.
Additional Costs
- A mid-week practical driving test booking fee of $65.33
- A mandatory written knowledge test $27.75

Pre-requisites & Requirements
- A current Australian Driver’s Car Licence or higher provisional, probationary or open; held for a minimum of 2 years
- Secondary identification
- Wear appropriate clothing, including fully enclosed shoes, either boots or runners.
- All training and assessment are conducted in English, a practical level of English language comprehension is required.
- Clear the written knowledge test and the on road practical driving test by the Department of Transport and Main Roads. If you hold a LR or MR Licence then its not required to attempt the written knowledge test
